Transportation FAQ

  • Can my child ride another bus with a friend?

    Posted by:

We do allow middle and elementary school students to ride another bus if space is available.  The parent or guardian must notify the school's main office for approval of this temporary change.  This does not apply to high school students.  High school students must ride their own assigned bus.

  • Can the bus stop at my house?

    Posted by:

Because we transport more than 8,000 students each school day, door-to-door service is nearly impossible. Bus stops are located in neighborhoods to accommodate multiple students. We try to have the students walk a reasonable distance to the stops and generally do not add multiple stops in a single neighborhood.  Only children with disabilities that have specialized transportation written into their education plans may be eligible.

Please call First Student at 603-883-0251 to locate a lost item.  If the item was left on the bus during the morning commute, the bus driver will keep that item on the bus until the afternoon commute in the hope that the student will be back to retrieve the item.  If the item is left on bus during the afternoon commute, that item will be brought to the terminal after the route driver completes all of their scheduled trips.

  • Who should I call if my student is going to absent from the bus?

    Posted by:

If your child is the only one at the bus stop, please call First Student directly at 603-883-0251.  Please have the bus number, the school and your stop location handy to report to the dispatcher.  If your child is at the bus stop with several other students, an absentee phone call is not needed.
