• Importance of NH SAS Testing

    Standardized testing, such as the New Hampshire Smarter Balanced Assessment System (NH SAS), is mandated by state law (RSA 193-C) and the federal Every Student Succeeds Act. 

    These assessments are essential for several reasons.  These assessments:

    • provide a comprehensive evaluation of students' abilities in core academic subjects

    • help track students' progress toward high school graduation and their readiness for college or career paths

    • guide teachers in adapting and improving classroom instruction

     

    Details About the NH SAS Testing

    Required Assessments

    General Assessments:

    NH SAS (Grades 3-8)

    • English Language Arts

    • Mathematics

    NH SAS (Grades 5, 8, & 11)

    • Science

    SAT School Day with Essay (Grade 11)

    • English Language Arts

    • Mathematics

    Testing Times:

    • NH SAS - English Language Arts/Reading: 2 hours, 15 minutes

    • NH SAS - Mathematics: 2 hours, 15 minutes

    • NH SAS - Science (Grades 5, 8, 11): 2 hours

    • SAT School Day with Essay: 3 hours, 34 minutes

    Practice and Preparation  

    Parents can access student practice tests via the NH SAS Student Practice Site at the NH SAS Portal.

    Results Access

    • Parents can access their child's results immediately after test completion through the NH SAS Family Portal using a unique access code available on the NSD Family Portal. Instructions for accessing the family portal can be found here.
