Juneteenth

If still in school, students and teaching staff will observe Juneteenth by taking a no-school day with the remaining staff reporting to work.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas and announced, in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation, that all slaves were free. Months later, the 13th amendment was ratified, abolishing slavery across all states and territories.
