Assistant Superintendent for Secondary

The Nashua Board of Education approved Dr. Andrade's recommendation to hire James O'Rourke, as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary on April 13, 2026. 

With more than 32 years of experience in education, Mr. O’Rourke has dedicated his career to helping students grow academically, socially, and personally. He began his career as a teacher for a small independent school, and middle school in Laconia, New Hampshire, before serving as a high school assistant principal in Rochester, NH for five years; and for the past 15 years, as a high school principal in Hillsboro, NH. Throughout his career, he has been committed to fostering positive school cultures, supporting student success, and empowering educators to achieve excellence.

Beyond the school day, coaching has been a lifelong passion. Mr. O’Rourke has coached youth and high school football, hockey, and baseball, as well as collegiate golf. Mr. O’Rourke has also had the privilege of coaching Special Olympics student-athletes in both Rhode Island and New Hampshire for 15 years. These experiences have reinforced his belief in the power of athletics to build confidence, character, teamwork, and lifelong relationships.

Mr. O’Rourke’s career has been defined by servant leadership, a commitment to student-centered decision-making, and a belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed both in the classroom and in life.
