Assessment of Student Performance--- I will try to evaluate your progress frequently using the following opportunities……….class participation, quizzes, tests, lab reports, homework completion, presentations, notebook checks, science skill checks of proper use and care of equipment as well as lab techniques. Effort, organization and respect count toward your grade. See “Your Grade in Biology” for details

Grading---

80%  graded assignments  (quizzes, tests, etc)

20%  homework, participation and being prepared for class

Homework---I expect homework to be done on time and I take  points off for every assignment not on time. My homework assignments will always be reasonable in length and/or assigned several days before it’s due. I will give assignments on Monday, usually for the week.. I will also try to consistently post work on my webpage under "weekly syllabus"

Making up missed work---  It is your responsibility to make up activities/labs/other work as soon as possible or by the 1st make up day following the absence.  If you are missing the day of a test, it will be taken during class the day that you return. If you’re absent for several days you may need to come to an after school help session first.

Make-up/ Extra help after school sessions are on .…Monday….. Please talk to me if you have concerns or questions. Although I hesitate to hold you late after class, I am at school every afternoon for a while. Let me know that you’re going to stop by and I’ll be there whenever I can.
