Class Format---a variety of teaching methods will be used including demonstrations, lecture, lab investigations, guided reading and presentations. Sometimes you will work individually and other times in cooperative groups or pairs.
Class Rules and Responsibilities--- be on time and prepared (have your notebook and something to write with), treat others with respect, work safely, take proper care of furniture, equipment and materials, follow instructions, complete assigned work to the best of your ability, seek extra help when you need it.
Course Expectations---by the end of the course you will:
-be familiar with and able to use several science skills effectively
-understand the scientific method and be able to design and carry out experiments
-know how to use a microscope and other standard scientific equipment properly and accurately
-demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in the classroom/lab
-develop problem solving skills to become a critical thinker and lifelong learner
-demonstrate an understanding of concepts taught in the course
-gain an appreciation of the natural world through observation, experimentation, and analysis
-learn how new discoveries in science are changing the way we do things
