Teachers’ Guide to the Media Center

Resources

The Media Center offers everyone access to a wide variety of fiction, nonfiction, reference books, periodicals, videos, DVDs, audiotapes, and equipment. The online periodical databases are available from any computer. In addition, a professional library space is available for teachers to use as a reading room or workspace.

Scheduling Classes

Please contact Mrs. Demeter (589-6874) or Mrs. Poltack (589-6876) in the Media Center if you wish to bring your class to the Media Center. You may use phone or e-mail to do this, or stop by in person. The Media Specialists will be happy to work with you and your class to integrate applicable information skills with your lesson.  Up to four classes may be scheduled in the Media Center at the same time.

Scheduling Audiovisuals

Contact Ms. Keeney (589-6873) in the audiovisual room if you would like to reserve equipment in advance. A variety of equipment is available for loan, as well as videos, DVDs, audiotapes, etc. You may also request that a video, DVD, or laserdisc be played through the school’s media retrieval system at a specific date and time. Contact Ms. Keeney to request a specific television channel be available at a particular time. Advance notice is very much appreciated.
