Nashua High School North offers several subscription databases to assist students and staff with research. These may be used at school or at home. At home, users will be asked for a username and password. The Media Center is happy to provide this information to our students and staff. Please stop in for an information sheet.

CQ Researcher

CQ (Congressional Quarterly) Researcher contains original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. It offers in depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues, health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the United States economy.

Granger's Poetry

Columbia Granger's Poetry online allows users to search for full-text poems by author, title, first or last line, subject, or keyword. It includes biographies of many poets and a comprehensive glossary.

SIRS - School   SIRS - Home

SIRS Researcher (Social Issues Resources) is a database of thousands of articles on hot and controversial topics. Topics (business, environment, family, global issues, health, human relations, institutions, and science) can also be browsed to narrow a search. It also includes maps of the world, World Almanac excerpts, and suggested research topics. From home, access through http://www.sirs.com .

Biography Resource Center

This comprehensive online biographical reference database covers the areas of literature, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, arts and newsmakers.

CultureGrams

Use CultureGrams to experience the cultures of 190 countries and territories. Includes maps, statistics, photos, recipes, famous people, and fascinating cultural information in 25 categories. A Kids' Edition and State Edition are also available.

World Conflicts

Explores several unresolved world conflicts occurring around the world including Darfur, Iraq, etc.

Encyclopedia Americana

A large collection of encyclopedia articles along with recommended websites and magazine articles.

Newspaper Source

Newspaper Source provides selected full text for 25 national (United States) and international newspapers. It also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for over 200 regional newspapers. Updated daily.

TOPIC Search

This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political, & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics. It contains full text for over 78,000 articles from over 3,000 sources, including over 1,550 periodicals.

 

Health Source

Articles from nearly 300 consumer health journals on medicine, fitness, AIDS, cancer, diabetes, nutrition, childcare, sports medicine, and other medical and health issues. Also includes over 1,000 health-related pamphlets and 135 health reference books. Updated daily.

Academic Search Elite

A college-level database of over 2,050 full-text scholarly journals providing a wide variety of information in virtually every area of academic study. Full-text information dates as far back as 1985. Includes images and is updated daily.

 

Business Source Elite

Provides full text articles for over 1,100 scholarly business, management and economics journals covering topics such as accounting, banking, finance, international business, marketing, and sales. Updated daily.

Regional Business News

This database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications, including 75 business journals, newspapers, and newswires from metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. Updated daily.

ERIC &Teacher Resources - 2 Databases

  1. Professional Development Collection, designed for educators,    contains 550+ quality education journals

  2. ERIC (Education Resource Information Center) contains more than 2,200 digests & other references in education-related journals.

NoveList Novelist graphic

This readers' advisory database allows users to search over 120,000 fiction titles by subject, author, or title, and suggests similar titles. It can also be browsed by category, genre or theme. Includes articles on authors.

NoveList K-8

This younger version of NoveList allows searches of K-8 books by author, title, series, or keyword. Includes lists of award-winning books, books by genre, by topic or theme, and can be searched by plot descriptions.

Searchasaurus

This graphic database is geared to elementary school students. It allows student to search magazines in Middle Search Plus or Primary Search, and also offers a general encyclopedia, encyclopedia of animals, dictionary, and pictures.

EBSCOhost Text Only

This option allows users to search any EBSCO database as text articles only. Graphics and PDF formats are excluded. Includes eleven databases.
