Full Year Course

Learn refrigeration fundamentals; electricity and controls; installing, operating, servicing, and repairing both heating and air conditioning equipment through classroom demonstrations and laboratory experiments. Work on domestic and commercial refrigeration and window and central air conditioning equipment,  including heat pumps, oil and gas systems. You will learn on modern equipment including three-phase electrical components. The demand for skilled technicians far  exceeds the supply in this field. Prerequisite: NTC Director’s office approval of your application. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of basic algebra and have a background in physical science and have a good mechanical aptitude.

 

HVAC 2 (Heating, Ventilation & Air-conditioning)         2 Credits

Full Year Course                                                                                                                                                          

Students learn to perform systems tests, troubleshoot and repair heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration syustems with state-of-the-industry equipment on a variety of makes and models of both residential and commercial HVAC systems. They learn to use a variety of tools and instruments to perform tests for electrical, pressure and burner efficiency. Laboratory activities focus on refrigeration systems (component installation and repair), pipe fitting, ventilation ducting, air-conditioning unit service and furnace and burner service. Individual safety codes pertaining to each type of system are addressed and adhered to during alb activities. Prerequisite: HVAC 1 and approval of the NTC Director's office
