Full Year Course

Gain foundation competencies in Cosmetology related to orientation, safety, leadership, personal development, chemistry, properties of the scalp and hair, draping, shampooing, rinsing and conditioning, removing unwanted hair, waving, wet hairstyling, roller sets, artistry of artificial hair and wigs, manicures and pedicures, the nail and its disorders, hair cutting, thermal hair styling/blow waving, and different types of hair coloring. This is a hands-on course with practice and review in each area. You will be tested individually on each subject and be required to pass a practical assessment as well. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra and 9th or 10th grade science, and NTC Director’s office approval of your application Note: You can gain hours toward State cosmetology certification if you demonstrate competency in this course.

Cosmetology 2                         2 Credits

Full Year Course

Learn how to apply makeup, develop experience and confidence using mannequins, and practice advanced nail techniques. Gain experience by running the in-school salon. Visit supply companies, attend cosmetology symposia, and learn from guest speakers working in the industry. In addition, you will investigate post-secondary educational programs that would enhance your career opportunities. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Cosmetology 1 Note: Enrollment requires approval of NTC Director's office and instructor. You must pass a written test on safety practices before you are permitted to use the products and chemicals the coursework requires. You can gain hours toward State cosmetology certification if you demonstrate competency in this course.
