Location #2 Machu Picchu, Peru
High above in the clouds of a mountain top is a hidden city built by the Incas.  Most historians think that the construction on Machu Picchu began around 1460. Many think it was a sacred religious location that included palaces for royalty, priests and priestesses. Machu Picchu appears to have been abandoned after 1532 Spanish invasion.  THIS city sat empty and forgotten in the mountains for nearly 400 years.  In 1911, Hiram Bingham rediscovered the empty ruins of Machu Picchu.             I have not visited here but it is on my list.  Continent Clues for South America. This is the fourth largest continent. This continent includes 12 independent countries and two countries that ruled by other countries. The world’s largest mountain range (the Andes) is in this continent. Country Clues for Peru This is the third largest country in South America. This country is bordered on the west by South Pacific Ocean. In 1527, the Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro and his troops invaded this country. The chief tourist attraction in Peru is this location.  Llamas are a native animal of this country.
