"Where in the World is....."

Location #2 Machu Picchu, Peru
High above in the clouds of a mountain top is a hidden city built by the Incas.  Most historians think that the construction on Machu Picchu began around 1460. Many think it was a sacred religious location that included palaces for royalty, priests and priestesses. Machu Picchu appears to have been abandoned after 1532 Spanish invasion.  THIS city sat empty and forgotten in the mountains for nearly 400 years.  In 1911, Hiram Bingham rediscovered the empty ruins of Machu Picchu.
I have not visited here but it is on my list.
