Web Evaluation for Intermediate Grades

Clones R Us

 

1.Review the browser screen.

2.Discuss Internet terminology and explain hyperlinks and how they work. 

3.Go to The Whirled Bank Group  or Clones R Us site.  Ask students to write down the three most important things about this site (10 minute exercise)

4. Show them the Important Legal Information screen or the About Us page.

5. Summarize what they learned at this site.

6. Go through the evaluation form.

40-50 minutes

Guided Practice Internet Search Engines    15 minutes

Independent Practice

 

 

 

 

 

1. Topic for search selected by teacher concerning subject matter/research that is needed in the classroom.

2.Using search engines from Internet Web sheet, each team of students will use a different search engine and find a web site to be review.

3.  From the search results, students will select on site to review.

25 minutes

Evaluation

 

 

 

 

1. Students will carefully file out the top of the form making sure the URL is clearly printed.

2. Students will ‘rate’ their selected web site and add their totals.

 

Closure

 

 

 

1. Students will write two or three sentences to go with numerical evaluation of Web site.

5 minutes

Extension

 

 

Students can use this technique all year long on different subject matters.
