Virtual FieldTrip 2004-2005
Time Zones around the Globe

Knowing what time it is around the world is important when you travel and are making reservations.  It is important to know what time it is at home when you calling.  My daughter, Gretchen, would get very angry at me IF I woke her up in the middle of the night.
World Time Scales website give you a short explanation of how the time zones came about.  How many time zones are there in the World?  Clue:  How many hours are there in a day.
World Time Zone Map has a great map that you can print out.
The World Clock - Time Zones website is interesting because if you click on a city, it will tell you the longitude and latitude of the city and even the times for sunrise and sunset.  We will be arriving in Spain slightly north of Barcelona.  Click on Barcelona.  What time will the sun rise and set on January 1st?  Now click on cities near Barcelona.  Scroll down until you find U.K. - Gibraltar, Gibraltar.  We will be staying near here.  Is it the same time of January 1st in Gibraltar and in Barcelona???
Current time around the World and standard time zones map of the world has a very interesting feature.  Click on Sun Clock at the top of the web page an it will show you where in the world the sun is currently shining.  Daylight savings shows what countries support it.  Does ALL of the United States use daylight savings?  Have some more fun cruising around this website.
NOW you are expert about time around the globe.  You should be able to figure out what time it is in Nashua when I get up in Spain (usually about 7am).  It should also be easy for you to figure what time it will be in Nashua when I go to bed about 11pm.
