The ETA Challenge

ETA stands for Estimated Time of Arrival.  One of the hardest things when you plan a trip is figuring out how long it will take you to get from one point to another.  You need to tell car rental companies, restaurants and hotels your arrival time.  Arriving on time is very important because you could lose your reservation if you arrive late or even miss a flight!

You need to take into account several things when you travel by car.  If weather conditions are rainy, your drive will take longer.  If you try to travel in or out of a city during ‘rush’ hour, traffic will be slower.  Travel on narrow back roads will take much longer than travel on the highways.  Reading road signs in a different language can be difficult.  You must have excellent up to date maps.
Your challenge is to figure out what time you think that Gretchen and Mrs. Novak should leave their house and THEN what time we will arrive in Lucerne, Switzerland.  The participating class that is the closest to our actual ETA in downtown Lucerne, Switzerland, will have their class picture post on Mrs. Novak’s web page.  There maybe other rewards.

Clues:  The Novaks live in Dunstable, MA.  We are leaving on Swiss  flight 53, May 26th. The last time I went through immigration in Europe, it took less than an hour including picking up my luggage.
