atom |
The smallest unit of an element that has all the properties of that element. An atom is made up of neutrons and protons in a main nucleus surrounded by electrons. |

| attract/repel |
Attract is when a negative and positive charge connect to each other. Repel is when a negative or positive charges push away from each other. |

| bulb | A light bulb is made of glass, wires, and a filament. The filament lights up when the negative charges move along the path from the outlet and through the wires to the bulb. The bottom part is called the base, and it is connected to the contact, which is made of metal. |

| Complete and incomplete circuit |
Complete circuit- the wire must touch the positive and the
negative end of the battery. The
tip of the bulb must make contact with metal. When the switch is
closed or turned on the path is complete. The charges can move. |

Conductor – Something that electricity can go through. Many things made of metal are conductors. Insulator – Something that electricity can’t get through. Wood, rubber, and plastic are all good insulators. |

| dry cell battery | A dry cell battery is a battery that has a zinc case and a carbon rod in the center of the battery. A space in between is filled with chemical paste. The chemical reactions take place inside the battery to create electricity. This type of battery is used for a flashlight, radio, and a Gameboy Advance or color. |

| generator | A generator is a big machine that has a magnet and wires in it that help it produce electricity |

| Static electricity | Static electricity is made by friction or rubbing. You can get static electricity on a dry or cold day. |

| Switch | You use a switch when you use a video game. When the switch is open the light is off. When the switch is closed the light is on. |

| wet cell battery | A wet cell battery is made of layers of lead instead of zinc and carbon. Instead of paste, this battery has water and acid. |
