On the Trail of Coronado

Map from http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/national_parks/coronado_expedition.jpg

All of my trips start with looking at a map.  The above map gives you an idea of the huge distances that Coronado traveled.  Coronado did not have any accurate maps like we do today.
Mrs. Barry and I flew into Denver, CO airport and then drove to Taos.  From Taos, we followed some of the routes that either Coronado or his lieutenants took to Albuquerque, Acoma and Santa Fe. I have been reading the diaries and letters from Coronado and his men.  How much have things have changed since Coronado was in New Mexico?  Click on the "read and picture" links below to see what Mrs. Novak observed.
Do go to the bottom hyperlinks and read more about the Coronado's trip (In Coronado's Footsteps) and more about New Mexico (New Mexico - Land of Enchantment).  To help you track the information that you learn, use Learning Log #1.
