Lesson Plan for Early Americans
Objectives:
Social Studies: Learning.
Language Arts: Reading, listening, and viewing.
Technology: Mouse skills, navigation on the network, going to
Internet Explorer, use of Back Button, and clicking on hyperlinks.
Overview:
Week One: Introduce
lesson (Early Americans), show the video, show website and how to do
the learning logs. Week Two: Have students do learning log on Early
Civilization. Show Anasazi video. Week Three: Continue with Indians
of Middle America and video on Aztecs and Mayans. Week Four:
Finish up with the Incas.
Learner Outcomes:
Students will learn more about early Americans.

Curriculum Standard 6. Students will demonstrate competence in

Social Studies
Curriculum Standard Number: 6.17
Students will demonstrate a knowledge of the chronology and
significance of the unfolding story of America including the history
of their community, New Hampshire, and the United States.
ps1 Employ the techniques of historical analysis, interpretation,
and comprehension identified in curriculum standard 16 as well as
the themes described on page 32 to gain an understanding of local,
New Hampshire, and United States history.
ps2 Outline the chronology of major events in local, New Hampshire,
and United States history from the first arrival of humans to the
present.
ps3 Describe the migration of large groups of people into and
throughout the United States from the first arrival of humans to the
present.
ps4 Discuss the on-going story of their community, state, and
nation in terms of the contributions of countless individuals.
ps5 Identify and describe the contributions to the development of
the United States and New Hampshire of key women and men involved
with the founding of our state and nation; government and politics;
business and economics; science and technology; and the arts.
ps6 Discuss the reasons why various groups of people came to
America; why and how they became Americans; and how they contributed
to the development of our country.
Materials:
Computers, videos,
SmartBoard, lcd projector, learning logs, and pencils.
Procedure:.
1.)
Using the
SmartBoard or large screen monitor, introduce the lesson and show
the movie.
2.) Discuss the learning log and how to do it.
3.) Have student go to the computers and do the learning log.
4.) Repeat these steps for each of the four topics over four weeks.
Assessment:
Completed learning logs with correct answers. |
