Make a Scrapbook of China

As a child I loved making scrapbooks.  I made scrapbooks about things I loved and dreamed of.  Two of my favorite scrapbooks were about horses and the places that I wanted to travel. I would carefully cut out articles/pictures from magazines and newspapers and paste them in books with thick manila pages.  I would make notes next the pictures and articles about what they meant to me.  Sometimes I would put souvenirs or memorabilia in the books. It took me a long time to fill up these books. I WISH I had kept these scrapbooks because they would be very interesting to read today.       With computers,  we don't need a book full of manila pages to make a scrapbook.  There are many ways to do this with a computer.  You can create a new Word document and paste pictures in it with your thoughts.  You can create a PowerPoint presentation with pictures and your reflections.  You can create a Publisher book and put pictures  and your comments in it.
With all these programs, you will need to copy the pictures and then paste it in.  You can use pictures from Microsoft's huge clip art library, OR from the pictures I will be posting to my blog and photo album OR any of the many websites Mrs. Novak lists on this website.  REMEMBER:  IF you use pictures from another website you MUST include the URL where you got it from.
This is very important. Pictures that appear on the Internet 'belong' to someone and have copyright privileges.  Using these pictures without citing where you got them is similar to stealing these pictures. While I have given you copy write permission to use my pictures, other people haven't.  IF you use a picture I do not recognize and there is no listed citation, you will have to delete it from your scrapbook.
Make sure to share why you decided on what pictures you selected and what they mean to you.
DO remember that the MOST important thing about doing any of these things is SAVING your work in your folder. Neither I or your teachers can see your great work IF you do not save it in the right place.  Follow my motto: Save, SAVE and SAVE AGAIN!   I know I will be doing this while I am in China.  I don't want to say to YOU  "Sorry. the computer 'ate' or 'lost' all my hard work and I can't find it."
Have fun doing this!  I can't wait to see your digital scrapbooks when I return from China.  I would love to put some of them up on this website but REMEMBER please cite all your picture sources.  Yours, Mrs. Novak
