Lesson Plan for All About Explorers
Objectives:
Social Studies: Learning about European exploration.
Language Arts: Reading, listening, and viewing.
Technology: Mouse skills, going to Internet Explorer, navigation on
the network, use of Back Button, clicking on hyperlinks, learning to
use Inspiration, highlighting text, inputting data into
Inspiration,, and inserting graphics.
Overview:
Week One: Introduce
lesson by giving the Columbian Exchange quiz, show website to be
used and show one or two videos. Week Two: . Week Three: Continue
. Week Four: Show webs.
Learner Outcomes:
Students will create a web of their explorer using Inspiration.

Materials:
Computers, videos,
SmartBoard, Inspiration software, All About Explorers - The Columbian Exchange worksheet,
pencils, and paper.
Procedure:.
Week One:
1.) Hand out All About Explorers – The Columbian Exchange and have
student take the quiz.
2.) Using the SmartBoard or large screen monitor, play the movie on
early explorers.
3.) Check the quiz.
4.) Play the movie of the Vikings.
5.) Reintroduce Inspiration.
Week Two:
1.) Show the Explorers movie.
2.) Have students start to do research on their assigned explorer
and start to work on web.
Week Three:
1.) Continue working on webs.
Week Four:
1.)Show and explain the webs on explorers.
