About Nashua High Schools Five years ago the city of Nashua made a commitment to its educational system. The community was growing and its High School was becoming over-crowded. So, the city of Nashua embarked on a journey toward two separate but equal High schools. In 2001 construction began on Nashua High North. It is an 77 acre site with a 422,000 square foot school on it . The school opened September 3, 2002 when Juniors and Seniors (Grades 11 and 12) occupied the 111 traditional classrooms and other instructional spaces, Media Center, 740 seat auditorium, three gymnasiums (a large gym with 2000 seats, a medium gym with 500 seats, and small gym for dance/aerobics), a weight room/fitness facility, the cafeteria which seats 525 people, and Board Room with space for 100 members of the public to attend city meetings. The school has 758 parking spaces for students, visitors and faculty members. Sophomores were housed in the 'old' Nashua High building which is now referred to as Nashua High School South. In June of 2002 a wall was built across the center of the school and construction on the north side of the building began. The renovated portion of the building reopened in September of 2003 while renovations began on the southern side of the building. Nashua High School South is a 449,000 square foot facility sitting on a 60-acre parcel off West Hollis Street. This school accommodates 2000 students in 112 class rooms with a Media Center, Auditorium (735 seats), three gymnasiums (a large gym with 2000 seats, a medium gym with 500 seats, and small gym for dance/aerobics), a weight room/fitness facility, and a cafeteria that can seat 500 students. The school features 681 parking spaces for faculty, visitors and students.
