The Exploratory Academy - Grade 10 The Exploratory Academy provides students with a curriculum rish in exploratory opportunities and career awareness and preparation. During their sophomore year, students will typically take Humanities (Sophomore English and Citizenship/Economics), Math, Science, World Language and three elective courses. While in the Exploratory Academy, students will continue to build a strong academic foundation which they began in the Freshman Academy. The opportunities sophomores experience in the Exploratory Academy will support and strengthen the transition to the Upper Forum. During the sophomore year, the Exploratory Academy will continue to promote a connectedness between students and teachers. The concept of assigning students to an interdisciplinary team of teachers will foster a more personal learning environment as well as a better opportunity for teachers to address each student's unique abilities and learning style enabling students to enjoy academic and social success. The sophomore experience includes access to the services of the Career Center, job shadowing opportunities, further development of their career portfolio, and future planning. While in the Lower Forum, students will take courses which will fulfill most of their core requirements, as well as, a number of electives courses to explore their own interests and talents. As students prepare to leave the Lower Forum, they will have had opportunities and the experiences necessary to make an informed decision regarding which Upper Forum Academy they will attend. |
