Sophia M. Santerre

Sophia M. Santerre, is a native of Keene, New Hampshire, attended Keene High School and Keene State College, where she received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education. At Nashua High School South, her teaching responsibilities include all choral performing groups, ensemble courses, musicianship courses, and music history and appreciation. Since Mrs. Santerre began teaching, she has taught general music at all grade levels, middle and high school band and chorus and has served as the director and musical director of several musical theater productions.

Over the past few years her musical groups have performed at the Eastern Division Music Educators National Conference Biennial In-Service, the New Hampshire State House, and on Manchester's Channel 9 Holiday Greetings. Her performing groups are always well represented at State music festivals, and continuously receive high marks at State and National competitions. Her groups are always sought out to perform at many civic functions throughout the state.

Mrs.Santerre has been a member of the faculty of the Summer Youth Music School held each Summer at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, where she has taught Master Classes on the saxophone, coached a saxophone quartet, and taught individual music lessons and conducting classes. An active performer on saxophone and clarinet, Mrs. S is also called upon to guest conduct festivals, as well serve as rehearsal clinician. She has guest conducted the New Hampshire Music Educators Association Southeast Junior High Festival Chorus, the Lakes Region Junior High Festival Chorus, the Manchester Central High School Jazz Day Choir, and has been a guest clinician in the Lin-Wood school on more than one occasion.

In addition to these activities, Mrs. S is very active in the New Hampshire Music Educators Association, has just completed her term as President of that organization, serving a total of sixteen years on the Executive Board. She is frequently sought as an adjudicator for state and area music festivals and competitions in both New Hampshire and Maine.
