This is a list of the current clubs and organizations offered here at NHS North. As we add new clubs frequently, the list will be updated throughout the year.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE MOST ACTIVE STUDENT ORGANIZATION AT NASHUA HIGH? Have you always wanted to play an instrument or learn more about music, but never had the opportunity? The Nashua High School Band is looking for additional new and energized members. We can provide you with the instruments, training, and opportunity! You need to provide us with you dedication and commitment to excellence and you willingness to be a "team" member! The Nashua High School music groups perform throughout the greater Nashua area and as far away as Washington D.C., and Orlando. We currently enroll over three hundred students in our music programs and are always looking for more. We are interested in beginners as well as experienced musicians. Bohemian Club
The Bohemian Society, founded by students who were concerned about the need of more culture at Nashua HS North, celebrates the performing and visual arts. These student-directed projects in acting, music, dance, visual arts and film will be performed for students and the public. Advisor, Deborah Thurber will also be directing theatre projects as well as mentoring students. ALL INTERESTED STUDENTS ARE WELCOMED.

| Tryouts for the Varsity and JV cheerleading teams are held in August for the upcoming school year. The Varsity team cheers for Varsity Football, while the JV team cheers for JV Football and Men's Varsity Soccer. A second tryout is held in November for the winter season. | General chorus is open to any students interested in choral music performance. Students are invited to join, please see the chorus director in the Band area. Members of the Chamber Singers are selected by audition that will be held the first two weeks in September. Together, both groups perform an average of 25 concerts each year. Past awards received include 1st place, Heritage Festival, Washington, D.C. in 1988 and the Gold Award in All-American Festival in Orlando Florida in 1989. The purpose of The Citizens of the World Club (COW) is to encourage all members of the Nashua High School community to experience our different languages and various cultures by facilitating the meeting of new people, interacting with them, and learning to accept and respect each other. We support and uphold the philosophy of Nashua High School which states . . . respect for self should be reflected in respect for others. Through participation in community service and demonstration of culturally symbolic activities in the school, we are also committed to extending cultural awareness education beyond the classroom by giving others in the community the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and contributions, and to form connections with people of different backgrounds and nationalities.

Destination Imagination |

Teams are formed around October and
competitions are held starting in March. Destination Imagination is
a team challenge where students are involved in creative problem
solving strategies. The team selects a long-term problem and over
the course of many months produces a team solution to that problem.
In March the team presents their solution at a Regional Competition,
hoping to advance to the State Finals and eventually the World
Finals. It's Fun, challenging, team work; It's NHOM. |

| The Drama Club is headed by Mrs. Yuenger and is a great organization for kids that have an interest in either performing on stage, working behind the scenes on plays, or if you just want to have fun. The shows they provide a showcase for student talent at Nashua High. The Club often participates in the New Hampshire Drama Festival and several students have won awards for excellence in acting. Overall it is a great club to belong to and affords you many opportunities to become involved in all phases of a dramatic production. | |

Mr. Ouellette ouelletteg@nashua.edu FIRST is a robotics competition that involves all 50 states, along with some teams from other countries. In the beginning of January you are given a task that the robot must perform. Then working with you corporate sponsor, you design, and build a fully functional robot to perform the task. You learn about and participate in all the aspects of the robot's production such as, Machining, Prototyping, Building, Wiring, Controlling, and many others. You have a time limit of 6 weeks to build the robot, then at the end of the six weeks you compete at the National Competition in Florida against robots from all over the country. 2000 was Nashua High's 8th year involved in the FIRST program with our wonderful corporate sponsor Lockheed Martin Sanders located on Canal Street. Out team has a proud history and through out our years have won many matches, and awards. This year our team competed at the Regional Competition in Hartford, Connecticut, and at the Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and won an award for the best use of Aluminum. French Club |

| Meeting schedule and place will be announced; please listen carefully to the daily announcements. The goal of the French Club is to improve the understanding of French language and culture in a realized, social atmosphere. The club is open to all present and former students of French. Meetings are conducted in English so that even the beginning student can benefit. A typical year could include speakers, games, films, pen pals, sampling French cuisine, and fund-raising for scholarships and activities. Meetings are held once per month as
scheduled by the officer team. Our mission is to bring business and
education together in a positive working relationship through
innovative leadership development programs. Our goals are to: 1. Promote competent business leadership 2. Understand American business enterprise 3. Establish career goals 4. Encourage scholarship 5. Promote sound financial management 6. Develop character and self-confidence 7. Facilitate transition from school to work FBLA takes three fields trips per year for leadership conferences and we have fun! The April conference is held in Manchester, NH for two days. This is a state competition, meet students from all over the state. The time commitment is not a burden to your busy schedule so come see Mr. Pollard in the business department for additional information. |

National Honor Society:
The National Honor society is an organization comprised of students
who are committed to academic achievement and show strong leadership
qualities. The clubs primary focus is on community service. Active
members volunteer to participate in a variety of community service
activities throughout the year Music Honor Society: This group (National Tri-M) is open to any participant in the performance groups offered at Nashua High. They must maintain a grade no lower than B in any music class, and no lower than C in any other class. There is a community service component and members are expected to promote music in their school and in their community. Please see Mrs. Oliver-Babb in the music department for more information. National Art Honor Society: Is open to any students who maintain a B+ or above in all art classes for 5 semesters, and who is active in their community. Please see Mr. Provencher in the art department for more information. National French Honor Society: Nashua High School's French Honor Society includes members who have had three semesters of B+ or above and who wish to continue their love of French through service, social and fundraising activities during the year and especially during World Language Month. Activities include such events as car washes, bowling, raffles and holiday socials. Monies earned during the year will be used for spring induction of new members, charitable donations, and scholarships for language oriented seniors. Bienvenue a tous! National Spanish Honor Society: The Nashua High School Chapter of the National Spanish Honor Society: Members are those students who have earned B+ or better for a minimum of 3 semesters of high school Spanish. Members are required to earn 4 credits per year in order to receive honor cords to wear at graduation. They volunteer as tutors to students of Spanish who need extra help their classes. They provide their time and talents to Nashua community organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brother and Big Sister. This chapter holds fund raising activities to sponsor a Dominican girl and to provide scholarships to seniors who plan to continue their studies in Spanish in college. | Interact Club is organized to provide an opportunity for young people to work together as they serve their community and promote international understanding. Sponsored by Nashua Rotary West, this group of students will work closely with community members who are part of this international organization. The Interact Club will undertake at least two major projects this year. We plan to work with international students, prepare holiday food baskets, take field trips and raise funds. | Highlighting the varied creative talents at Nashua High School, the Literary Magazine compiles and publishes submissions from the students and faculty. The goal of the literary Magazine is to produce a quality publication, which provides the NHS community with an outlet for expressing its creativity and voices. The club meets monthly through out the school year to collect and evaluate submissions before preparing the final product, which is published in the spring. | Our goal is to expose students to the world of photography. Students will become familiar with their cameras, learn to take good pictures, develop their own black and white film, and print their own pictures. The club meets on Friday afternoons from 2:15 to 3:30. Students must have their own cameras, purchase their own film, and photographic paper. The Senior Video Club plans, films, produces, edits, and markets a video capturing the experiences of the senior class. We include all major school events and try to include as many members of the graduating class as possible. Video experience or coursework is a plus, but everyone with ideas and energy can participate and learn the necessary skills. We make an awesome memory which people treasure for years to come!
Underclassmen are also welcome. Maybe we can start gathering footage for your senior video now.

It's not just a hippy-sport anymore! Fast running, high-flying, and fun are the keys to a great ultimate club! In the Ultimate Frisbee Club we will learn the basics of the game with the intent to play against other local high school teams.
