Welcome to the North Star Café

Nashua High North’s Culinary Arts program is an educational class for students who are interested in the cooking field. In the Culinary Arts Program, we begin by teaching the apprentices safety and sanitation in a professional setting. We proceed to individual hands-on projects such as making pasta from scratch, to cake decorating.

These students receive a hands-on approach to several cooking methods and are taught how to make tedious knife cuts. Students get the experience of working on a “line,” how to serve in a dining room, and proper plate presentations. They learn how to cater anything from a simple pasta night to a gourmet banquet.

One of the most exciting experiences for the culinary students the partnership with the Hospitality and Tourism classes. Hospitality students select, research, and decorate the North Star Café to reflect an area studied. Hospitality and Tourism and the Culinary Arts program work hand in hand, organizing, working, and assisting each other during events. This partnership has expanded to other disciplines, such as the music department, art department, social studies, and horticulture in order to make this possible
