"The Bird in the House"

The student will be able to: research information and use that data to create a project  about the author that includes 20 facts regarding the author and her life; they will orally present their project to the class in 5 or less minutes

The student will know: a.) the content of the story; b.) select 10 vocabulary words and correctly define them and be able to use them correctly in context; c.) answer questions of comprehension from the story; d.) use internet resources that have been provided to them to research the author's life; e.) create a project that shares 20 facts of the author's life.

Vocabulary Worksheet

  1. Student will self-select 10 vocabulary words from the story that they will copy the phrase / sentence they can be found in from the story, page number, a simple illustration to help the student learn the definition, and a definition for the word .
  2. Student will highlight the ten selected words in their text book with a yellow highlighter.

 

 

 

Power Point Presentations Fall 2006

Each student will construct a story board on Margaret Laurence and her life.  It needs to contain 20 facts about the author.  It needs to have 10 graphics that correspond to the presentation. It should have no spelling errors.Class Power point Fall 2005.ppt The Type Three writing will be submitted electronically to the teacher.  A written copy of the power point representation will also be printed up in "Handouts (9 slides per page)" format for the student's writing folder as Writing Piece #______.  It will be presented to an audience of peers and guests. A rubric will be used to evaluate the power point presentation and the Focus Correction Areas will be used to grade the writing.  An other rubric will be used for the oral presentation of their self-selected projects that the student's have been given copies of.
