Greetings from the Administration of Ledge Street School! Thank you for your interest in our school. This web site was designed so you can get to know about many of the wonderful things we do here to make our students’ educational experience a positive and enriching one. We hope you find the information in it useful. It is also a tool that you can use to communicate with us in order to help us better meet the needs of our school community. Our main goal is best described in our Mission Statement: We at Ledge Street School, in partnership with our community, pledge to build a foundation of respect and responsibility in order to create a caring environment based on unity and pride. We understand that students need to be taught, and to practice responsibility at every level. We strive to use every aspect of the school experience to build self-respect so that students know that they are capable of being responsible for their actions and their learning. We know that all parts of our community, students, parents, families, teachers, and support staff are important pieces of each child’s success. We are enthusiastic in our implementation of the fine systems in reading and math that are the foundation of the Nashua School District’s educational program. Classes in science, social studies, phys ed., art, and music round out our curriculum. Additionally, over the past year, we have strengthened the skills of all of our teaching staff, including paraprofessionals, through participation in many hours of staff development. This has focused on the areas of Special Education and ESL (English as a Second Language). We continue to grow in our ability to serve the widely diverse needs of the members of our community. Esta página web se creó para que ustedes se puedan enterar sobre todas las cosas maravillosas que hacemos para que la experiencia educacional de sus hijos sea positiva y enriquecedora. Nuestra misión es: La Escuela Ledge, en colaboración con la comunidad, se compromete a fomentar el respeto y la responsabilidad para crear un ambiente que sirva de orgullo para nuestros estudiantes. Queremos construir una base fuerte de responsabilidad y respeto y a la vez un ambiente donde el estudiante sienta que es parte íntegra de “la familia escolar”. Tratamos de usar la experiencia escolar para que el estudiante tome responsabilidad de sus acciones y estudios. Para que el niño tenga éxito, debemos trabajar juntos, los padres, los maestros, y la comunidad. Nuestros programas de estudio en lectura y matemáticas son el fundamento de nuestro sitema educativo en el Distrito Escolar de Nashua. Las clases de ciencia, estudios socials, arte, educación física y música, forman parte esencial de nuestro programa de estudios. Además, durante este último año escolar, los maestros y demás personal han fortalecido aumentado sus destrezas, mediante muchas horas de cursos de enriquecimiento educativo, con especial énfasis en las áreas de Educación Especial y ESL (Inglés Como Segundo Idioma.)
