Dear Parents,
By now you are all aware of the terrible catastrophe in the Gulf States brought on by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. Many of us have friends and relatives in the region. It is expected to take many months for the region to recover. Relief efforts are springing up everywhere in hopes of getting much needed aid to the victims. I have asked a district committee to coordinate the efforts for the entire Nashua School District.
Many schools helped to raise money for the tsunami victims last year. The Nashua School District is very excited again to do our part in raising funds for those communities devastated by the hurricane. We ask for your support; no donation or effort is too small. We are coordinating our efforts throughout the schools in the belief that we can accomplish more as a school community working together.
The School District has established a dedicated trust fund for the deposit of funds raised in our schools for the relief effort. Proceeds from the fund-raising effort will be used for two purposes: to help children and families who have resettled into the Nashua community and to support efforts to rebuild the schools in one or more communities devastated by the storm.
Fund-raising events to support the Nashua School District Relief Fund will be in progress at our schools throughout the year. I urge you to assist your school community in any way you can with these fund raising efforts, which will not only help families and communities in need, but will also serve as an important learning experience for our students as they recognize the need for humanitarian efforts.
We appreciate any help you can give to this important cause.
Sincerely,

Julia C. Earl, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
