Classroom Policies and Expectations:

 Responsibility and Respect:

The key to all successful endeavors in the classroom revolve around responsibility and respect. All actions have logical consequences. It is solely the student’s responsibility to ensure that the logical consequences are positive. Being respectful of classmates who wish to utilize materials, opportunity and time will have positive consequences for all. If you approach the tasks in class with those concepts in mind, success will be the outcome.

Students are required to:

·         Keep and maintain a three- ring binder w/ lined paper and ¼ inch graph paper. Notebooks will be included in a student’s quarter grade

.

·         Bring pens, pencils, ruler, texts and notebook to class every day. You will also need colored pencils for editing essays. It is strongly recommended that students should have a flash drive with them at all times.

·         Write assignments in an agenda book.

·         Make up all outstanding work (due to legitimate absences) in a timely manner. Work must be made up by the first make-up day. Thursday is make-up day. Other possible times may be arranged by mutual agreement of the student and instructor. Students who are out for an extended time will meet and contract with the teacher to create a fair time frame.

·         Follow the school policies in the classroom. Use of cell phones, eating food of any kind, having drinks (other than clear water), wearing hats, iPods, etc. will result in points off the student’s participation/conduct grade, an afternoon detention and the student will be asked to immediately leave class  to turn in the hat/phone/iPod to his or her administrator. Each subsequent infraction will result in further point deductions and detentions.

·         Written assignments not handed in on the due date will result in a deduction of 10 points/day. Assignments more than three days late will not be accepted.. Project/Performance assignments must be ready on the assigned date or will result in a zero.

·         1 point will be deducted from a student’s quarter grade for each absence. These points may be earned back by attending make-up sessions and completing the work assigned.

·         ½ point will be deducted for a tardy to class and a detention will be assigned. The points for each consequent tardy will increase incrementally. These points may not be made up.

·         Technology is never an acceptable excuse for not having an assignment.

I have read the classroom policies for Mr. Heinhold’s class. Please print out two (2) copies. One should remain in your notebook and the second is to be signed by both you and your Parent/guardian.
