Dear AP Biology students for Mrs.Gillespie at South and Mr. Fitzgerald at North, Home Page
We are very excited about teaching AP Biology this year. The main benefit of taking this course is that each of you will get an “AP experience” which means you will have a chance to experience a “college course”. Your teacher will work as a team with you to master the concepts and complete the material. We are looking forward to having all of you in my classes.
This “website” will post the AP Biology weekly syllabus, project descriptions, links to outside reading and other documents to reference. Please bookmark Mrs. Gillespie's website. This website will be shared by both north and south calsses. You will also have access to your text on line as an“E book” and to the author's website that offers support material and virtual labs that go with the text. When school starts your teacher will give you the actual text. Your text is:
BIOLOGY 6th edition by Campbell and Reece Publisher Benjamin Cumming
The text is DARK GREEN with a black and white photo of a flower on it.
We will issue you a text when we meet but you do have some preclass reading and writing to complete . If you are a South student, you may
come to Mrs. Gillespie's house and get your text before school starts if you like OR you can read your text on line by registering at the publisher's
website below. Please contact Mrs.Gillespie by email to arrange for a text pickup at her house. Books will only be available for
those who contact ahead of time via email at dotgillespie@comcast.net.
Books can be picked up Monday evening August 20th and again on August 22 and 23rd.

SUMMER ASSIGNMENT
Explore the Campbell site and become familiar with its contents.
BEFORE SCHOOL we would like you to read the following chapters and/or chapter sections in the E Book at the Campbell site. We will be starting the year with a very quick review of Ecology followed by a test. You are expected to learn most of this material on your own. Each chapter has a quiz and there are chapter reviews at the main site where you entered. The quizzes and reviews are optional. Do the activities at the Campbell site for each chapter. You must write out the answers to the questions that are listed at the summer reading link below. You can copy the questions into a word document and then type your answers right on the document. You will be graded on this assignment. If you have a problem getting to the site, contact me at dotgillespie@comcast.net or Mrs. Fitzgerald at fitzgeralds@nashua.edu.
