The Nashua School District will register incoming kindergartners using a lottery-based process, starting Thursday, January 26, 2017. The revised process alleviates the need for parents to wait in line, as was the case at some of our elementary schools in previous years.
Elementary school principals are looking forward to welcoming their newest students and want to be sure Nashua residents, who have children turning five years of age by September 30, 2017, are aware of the three major steps to the kindergarten registration process:
- Registration Packet Download or Pick-up
- Completed Registration Packet with Required Documentation Drop-off
- Lottery, if needed
Starting no later than Wednesday, January 4, 2017, parents can download registration forms by clicking here. As an alternative, parents may pick up registration forms at their neighborhood elementary school from between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm each school day, Monday through Friday.

A host residency form may be picked up at the neighborhood elementary school.
If your child is scheduled to attend an elementary school that has a half-day kindergarten program, you will be asked to note your preference for the morning session of kindergarten or afternoon session of kindergarten.
If needed, on Monday, March 20, 2017, each elementary school will hold a lottery to assign incoming kindergartners to either the morning or afternoon session. As a child’s name is drawn, the session request will be honored until the session is filled to capacity.
Assistant Superintendent Roland Boucher wants parents to know that all children who register will be assigned to a kindergarten session for the 2017-1018 school year. Principals will send a letter to parents following the lottery to confirm placement.
for a chart, which is included in the Kindergarten Packet, outlining the timeline for the kindergarten registration process for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.
