Philosophy of Education: |
It goes on one at a
time,
It starts when you care
To act, it starts when you do
It again after they said no,
It starts when we you say We
And know who you mean, and each
Day you mean one more.
-Marge Piercy, “The Low Road”
I am enthralled with adolescents; the minds of middle school children
fascinate me. This is a wonderful and terrible time of life, when
children are deciding who they want to be and how they will become. It
is an age of paradox when children begin to see the importance of their
choices and search for the means to express them. I long to help them
discover themselves, to guide them in that discovery, to teach them the
interrelatedness of all things, and the language to share their wisdom
with the world. |
