"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I... I took the one less traveled by, and
that has made all the difference."

The Academy of Learning and
Technology
is proud of and excited about its partnership with City Year New
Hampshire. Seven volunteer corps members from City Year New
Hampshire work at the middle school. Their commitment, positive
energy and enthusiasm have a positive impact on the students and
the school community.

The mission of the City Year corps members is cited clearly
in the Statement of Agreement: "City Year New Hampshire corps
members will build strong relationships with the ALT students
through in-school and after-school activities to facilitate
transformative change in the students, while becoming members of
the school community to help facilitate the weaving of
supportive
webs of relationships around the students."

The corps members act as positive role models and
mentors, provide academic support and individualized attention
to students and have started to implement an anti-harassment
curriculum within the school. Additionally, they have encouraged
students to participate in community services activities with
which they are involved.
City Year is an "action tank" for
national service, working to advance and improve the concept and delivery of
voluntary national service so that one day, giving a year of service will
become a common expectation - and a real opportunity - for millions of young
Americans."
