Technology

Our expectations for all the students here at the at the Academy of Learning of Technology (ALT) is very high.   ALT students will be provided with numerous opportunities to learn specific software applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Front Page, Explorer as well as other applications including video and photo editing.  We expect ALT students to be able to apply their technological knowledge of these specific software applications in a meaningful and productive way in the classroom, at home, or in their future career.

We incorporate technology in two ways. First, technology is taught to our students in the form of computer classes. Students learn the principles of Microsoft Office programs as well as other software programs.  Students are expected to demonstrate their understanding of these concepts through hands on computer projects, tests, and teacher observations. 

Secondly, technology is used in the process of learning as well as a tool to enhance a classroom activity.  For example, classroom teachers can use the computers to research topics, write papers, and present information. Also available to our teachers are a smart board, digital cameras, and video equipment. 

With cutting edge technologies and abundant opportunities for our students to access this technology, the ALT school is better preparing our students with the technological skills they will need to be successful in their academic future.
