Experience:

I taught 5th grade in Paola, Kansas at Sunflower Elementary and Paola Middle School for 3 years before moving to Virginia.  In Newport News, Virginia I taught 3rd grade for 2 years at Jenkins Elementary.  When I moved to New Hampshire, I taught for 5 years at the Robert B. Jolicoeur School of Easter Seals in General Special Education.

Hobbies and interest:

I enjoy playing softball during the summer and also like to garden and spend a lot of time in the yard trying to make it look pretty.  I do have a lifetime fishing license in Kansas, but unfortunately haven’t been able to fish since moving to New Hampshire.  My family is very important to me and I spend a lot of time with Butch, my husband, and our son, Johnson.

Philosophy of Education:

As a teacher I have learned a few lessons on this journey.  Some I learned on my own and some from colleagues.

My main goal as a teacher is to help kids help themselves.

Sometimes the most important thing you teach a kid doesn’t come from the textbook.

The smallest amount of time you spend with a child can be the biggest thing in their life.

I try to make my classroom a safe place for a kid to take a risk.

It’s okay to fail, that can teach the most important lesson
